As time passes, the battery of the Hybird cars gradually ages, necessitating a battery pack replacement. Meanwhile, high-voltage components such as the EME, KLE, and A/C system(for example, BMW) are experiencing an increasing number of failures, leading to expensive repair costs. Moreover, the recurring issues with these high-voltage components have caused significant distress for car owners.

Since most of hybrid is directly adapted from the platform of fuel-powered version, such as BMW X5 F15, just sharing the chassis structure, body frame, and most mechanical components with the xDrive35i and xDrive50i, it is theoretically entirely feasible to remove the hybrid system. The plug-in hybrid system was added by installing an electric motor and battery pack onto the 2.0T fuel engine.

Since the end of 2023, we have completed modifications for near 200 hybrid cars, gaining extensive experience in this field.

Q&A

Q: What models can you remove the hybrid system from?

A: We are currently working on BMW F01, F04, F15, F30, G30, G11, and G12. Additionally, we have extensive experience with models such as the Porsche Cayenne, Panamera, Mercedes - Benz S400(W221), and Range Rover L494/L405.

Q: When is it recommended to remove the hybrid system?
A: Based on our years of repair experience with the BMW hybrid, comprehensive evaluation is needed in the following scenarios:

  • Vehicle age exceeding 8 years
  • Aging of the high-voltage battery
  • Previous repairs to the EME
  • Transmission slipping issues

These repairs typically cost between  3000–7,000 USD, and problems often occur cyclically, requiring expensive annual repair costs.

Q: What is the operation process?
A:

  • For car owners: You can contact us to inquire whether we have partnered repair shops locally.
  • For repair shops: Contact us to discuss detailed cooperation. We are committed to supporting more repair facilities.

Q: In which countries do you currently operate?
A: We primarily operate in China,Malaysia,Thailand and Greece, with near 200 successful modifications completed. Welcome partners from more countries.

Q: Will the gear shift system still work normally after removing the hybrid system? Can the B-mode regenerative braking function still operate?
A: The gear shift system remains unchanged, with still available Sport and Comfort modes. However, since the battery pack and motor are removed, the B-mode regenerative braking function will no longer work. All high-voltage-related components are eliminated, while fuel system components are retained.

Q: How long does the entire process take?
A:With local parts availability: 6–7 days

  • Day 1–2: Major work (removing the battery, EME, engine, transmission, and accessories; requires 2 workers for 2 days)
  • Day 3–4: Installing fuel system components (engine, transmission, generator, starter, etc.; requires 1 worker for 1–2 days). Minor tasks include modifying air conditioning pipes, wiring, and remote programming.
  • Day 5–7: Test driving.
  • Without local parts: Additional time for shipping.
    Air freight: ~9–10 days
Sea freight: ~20–40 days (varies by country)

Q: What warranty is provided after removing the hybrid system?
A: We offer a 1-year warranty.

Q: How does fuel consumption and powertrain performance change after removal?
A: It specifically depends on your usual driving habits, such as whether you drive more on highways or in urban areas. Taking the X5 F15 as an example, after removing the hybrid system, the weight is reduced by approximately 300KG. Therefore, the difference in comprehensive fuel consumption is not significant, generally increasing by about 1-2 liters per kilometer. In terms of power, our actual tests show little difference. Additionally, since the hybrid system is removed, there is no longer a switch between electric and fuel power, so the jerky feeling disappears, and gear shifting becomes smoother.
